Roll-off dumpster rental in Lake Geneva
Approx. 36 road miles east of Janesville, around 55 minutes — Highway 14 and I-43, then Highway 50 east to the lake.
Lake Geneva is the far end of our eastern run — Highway 14, I-43 and Highway 50 from the yard, about 55 minutes — and next morning as a rule. The city sits on the eastern shore of Geneva Lake, which its plan calls "the defining feature of the City and the region," and 20.5% of its housing units are vacant, largely seasonal homes.
Housing is old — 17.7% built in 1939 or earlier, another 17% in the 1940s and 50s — and "since 2008 nearly no new housing has been built in the City," so the work is cottage gut jobs, roof tear-offs, resort and hospitality fit-outs and landlord turnovers.
Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Lake Geneva
Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Geneva Lake — 5,401 acres (DNR); the downtown Riviera and the Wells Street corridor sit on the shore, with Big Foot Beach State Park to the south.
- A resort economy — Mercy Health System is the largest employer, then Geneva National Resort & Club, Timber Ridge Lodge & Waterpark, Grand Geneva Resort (355 rooms and its own airstrip, just east of the city), Primex Wireless, Klockit, Chaney Instrument and Brunk Industries.
- Seasonal housing — 20.5% of units counted vacant, mostly second homes; 54.8% owner-occupied among the rest.
- Johns Disposal collects the carts with bulk items on the second pickup of the month, and the city's brush pickup runs only in spring and fall windows.
- Public Works on (262) 248-6644, City Hall at 626 Geneva Street on (262) 248-3673.

What comes out of Lake Geneva properties
Cottage gut jobs, roof tear-offs and kitchens in 15s and 20s, whole-house and seasonal-home cleanouts in 20s and 30s, and resort fit-outs in 30s. Code 58-45 says "building contractors, landscapers and arborists are responsible for removal of any debris resulting from their work," demolition material, clean fill and broken concrete are unacceptable for regular collection, and 58-46 has resident-generated loose demolition or remodeling material arranged directly with the hauler. Johns' bulk day refuses loose construction material, yard waste and electronics.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Lake Geneva
Right-of-way: 62-66 prohibits obstructing or encumbering any street, alley, sidewalk or public land. The exception at 62-67(4) lets building materials be placed in streets, alleys or sidewalks "under City conditions" — barricades or lights may be required — and "parking metered areas require a permit from the Police Department." Dumpsters are not named, and no obstruction fee appears in the Building and Zoning fee schedule. Keep the container on the driveway; for a street placement we will talk to Public Works first, and the Police Department if it is a metered spot.
Who may haul: no city hauler licence was found in the solid-waste or business chapters. 58-11 requires commercial establishments and buildings of five or more units to contract directly with haulers, 58-3 says no hauler shall remove refuse that does not comply with the chapter, and 58-44 wants dumpsters with hinged lids and no leaks. Our loads are covered on the road and tip at a DNR-licensed landfill — Mallard Ridge in Delavan (GFL), which publishes no gate fees, or the Janesville landfill at $46 a ton.
Summarized from the city's published code and web pages as read in October 2026. Codes change — confirm with the department listed before you rely on it.
How it works
Booking a dumpster in Lake Geneva
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
- 1
Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No forms, no waiting on an email.
- 2
We size it and quote it flat
You get one number covering delivery, the 7-day rental, pickup, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is shingles or concrete, we say up front that it needs its own box.
- 3
Delivered where you want it
The driver walks the spot with you and sets the container square on the driveway, lot or job site, boards under the rails. Same-day in Janesville if you called before noon.
- 4
Load at your own pace
Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out — tires, appliances, electronics, batteries, oil, yard waste in a mixed load. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.
- 5
We haul it and sort it right
Clean concrete, brick and brush go to the Clean Fill Facility, appliances and metal to the landfill's recycling areas, and the rest to the licensed landfill for that county. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers
Dumpster rental in Lake Geneva — common questions
Is Lake Geneva same-day or next-day?
Next morning as a rule — it is the far end of our eastern run at about 55 minutes.
Can a dumpster sit in the street in Lake Geneva?
As building material under City conditions, with barricades or lights if required, and a Police Department permit in a metered spot. The driveway needs no permit.
Does Lake Geneva restrict who can supply a roll-off?
No city hauler licence was found. The code puts debris removal on the contractor and leaves containers to private haulers.
Can brush and leaves go in the container?
They can, but the city has its own spring and fall brush windows and a drop-off on Carey Street for residents, and landfills refuse yard waste in a mixed load — keep it out and save the space.
Service area
Every town we cover
We run roll-off containers out of the Adel Street yard to every town below. Janesville, Beloit and the Rock County towns are usually same-day; the Walworth, Jefferson, Dane and Green County towns are next-day. Four towns license the haulers that work inside their limits — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
