Roll-off dumpster rental in Milton

Approx. 14 miles north-east of the yard, around 23 minutes — Highway 11 east, then Highway 26 (Milton Avenue) north.

Milton is Highway 26 north from the Janesville side, about 23 minutes from the yard, and usually same-day when you call before noon. It is a town of about 6,000 along Highway 26, and the old site already called it the home of the historic Milton House.

The City contracts Johns Disposal for the carts on Wednesdays, and ord. 62-6 says houses of one to four units have their waste collected as the City prescribes and "there shall be no other methods of collection" — which is about carts, not containers; five-unit buildings and businesses arrange their own containers under ord. 62-17.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Milton

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Johns Disposal runs the carts — refuse every Wednesday, recycling every other Wednesday — with one free bulk collection a month for furniture, extra bags and up to two tires.
  • Public Works at 150 Northside Drive takes electronics free in business hours; hazardous waste goes to the Rock County Clean Sweep.
  • Collection hours are set at 7 am to 7 pm (ord. 62-15), so we deliver and pull in daylight.
  • City Hall at 710 South Janesville Street, (608) 868-6900; the building inspector is a contracted engineer rather than a City office.
  • The Milton House — the historic landmark the old site led with, and the reason a lot of the housing around the center is old enough to need work.

How we reach Milton

What comes out of Milton properties

Kitchens, baths, roofs and garage cleanouts in 15s and 20s, and whole-house or estate cleanouts in 20s and 30s. Johns Disposal's one free bulk pickup a month is for a couch and a few extra bags, not a tear-out — and the carts are the only City collection for one-to-four-unit homes. Everything we take from Milton tips at the Janesville landfill ($46 a ton, no shingles, concrete or yard waste in a mixed load), so a roofing job gets its own container.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Milton

Right-of-way: ord. 66-171 prohibits obstructing streets and sidewalks. Ord. 66-173 is a Street Privilege Permit from the Director of Public Works ((608) 868-6914) for encumbering the street "with materials necessary in and about the construction or demolition of any building" — a surety bond is required ($10,000 property damage, $50,000 / $100,000 injury), the fee is set by Council resolution and was not published, no more than one-third of the street, lit at night, and the permit expires after three months. Dumpsters are not named in it. The driveway is simpler; if it must go in the street we will talk to Public Works first.

Who may haul: no City hauler licence was found in Chapter 62 — residential carts are reserved to the City's contractor, and owners of larger buildings and businesses arrange their own containers (ord. 62-17). Our loads are covered on the road and go to the Janesville landfill under the City's hauler permit.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Milton

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask what you are clearing, where the container needs to sit, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us. No forms, no waiting on an email.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number covering delivery, the 7-day rental, pickup, disposal and a stated tonnage allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is shingles or concrete, we say up front that it needs its own box.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver walks the spot with you and sets the container square on the driveway, lot or job site, boards under the rails. Same-day in Janesville if you called before noon.

  4. 4

    Load at your own pace

Keep it level with the top rail and keep the banned items out — tires, appliances, electronics, batteries, oil, yard waste in a mixed load. Need a swap mid-job or an early pickup? One call and we are on it.

  5. 5

We haul it and sort it right

Clean concrete, brick and brush go to the Clean Fill Facility, appliances and metal to the landfill's recycling areas, and the rest to the licensed landfill for that county. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Milton — common questions

Is Milton same-day?

Usually, yes — about 23 minutes up Highway 26. Call before noon.

Can a dumpster sit in the street in Milton?

Only under a Street Privilege Permit from Public Works, which needs a bond and expires after three months. The driveway needs no permit.

Does Milton restrict who can supply a roll-off?

We found no City hauler licence. The City's "no other methods" rule in ord. 62-6 is about household carts; containers for bigger jobs are arranged privately.

Will Johns Disposal take my renovation debris on bulk day?

Bulk day covers furniture, extra bags and a couple of tires once a month. Demolition and building debris is container work.

Every town we cover

We run roll-off containers out of the Adel Street yard to every town below. Janesville, Beloit and the Rock County towns are usually same-day; the Walworth, Jefferson, Dane and Green County towns are next-day. Four towns license the haulers that work inside their limits — each page says so plainly. If your town is not listed, call anyway.
