The 15 yard container in Janesville
The 15 yard is the step up from the 10 when the job is one big room rather than one small one. Kitchen remodels are the classic fit — cabinets, countertops, flooring, the drywall behind it all — and so is a deck tear-down or a whole-house carpet and tile change-out.
It is still short enough for most residential driveways in Janesville, Beloit, Milton and Edgerton, and low-sided enough that you can load it over the wall without a ramp. If you are between a 10 and a 20 and the material is light and bulky, this is usually where you land.
Kitchens, floors, decks and single-room remodels
A kitchen generates more than people expect: by the time the cabinets, the old appliances' packaging, the backsplash and the subfloor are out, a 10 yard is tight and a 15 is right. Flooring jobs are the same — tile from a three-bedroom house is heavy and awkward, and the 15 gives you the length to lay it flat.
Decks and fences are the other Wisconsin regular. Frost heave and twenty winters do for a lot of them; cut the boards under 16 feet and they stack cleanly along the bed. Treated lumber goes in the mixed box, not the clean-fill one.
Weight on a 15 yard
The included allowance is two to three tons depending on the material. Tile, plaster and old slab pieces add up quickly, so for a heavy flooring job we will tell you up front whether it fits the allowance or needs a split load. Light demolition — cabinets, drywall, carpet — never gets near the line. Overage is charged per ton at the landfill rate, and we say what that is before you load.
Suitability
Is the 15 yard the right size for you?
Rough working figures. Weight, not volume, is what usually decides.
Choose the 15 yard for
- Kitchen remodel including cabinets and counters
- Whole-house carpet or tile tear-out
- Deck, fence or pergola removal
- Two-room cleanout with furniture
- Flooring plus a bathroom in one go
Pick a different size for
- Whole-house renovation — go to the 20 or 30
- Full roof tear-off (a 20 is the usual fit, and shingles need their own box)
- Commercial build-outs
- Anything hazardous or on the Wisconsin banned list
Placing a 15 yard container on a Rock County property
It needs about 60 feet of straight, level run for the truck and 25 feet of overhead clearance. On your own driveway or lot in Janesville we found no City rule requiring a permit; in a street, alley, sidewalk or terrace the City requires a Dumpster Permit through the Building Division (608-755-3060) — two weeks maximum, barricade and flashing light on the traffic side, off the street in a snow emergency — and the container owner applies, so we file it. Other towns have their own rules — Beloit bars street obstructions with no permit route, most of the rest have a street-privilege permit of some kind. Boards go under the rails as standard, and in winter the spot needs to be plowed. Each town page covers its own code.

15 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked
Is a 15 yard enough for a kitchen remodel?
For most Janesville kitchens, yes. If you are also gutting an adjoining room or replacing tile throughout the house, step up to the 20.
Will it fit in my driveway?
It needs about 16 feet of container length and a straight approach. Most two-car driveways in Rock County have room; the alley-loaded garages in the older Janesville neighborhoods are worth a quick photo before we book.
Can I keep it longer than a week?
Yes. The standard rental is 7 days and extensions are a daily rate — just tell us before the scheduled pickup.
What is the weight limit?
Two to three tons is included, depending on what is going in. Dense material like tile or plaster can push past that, so tell us what it is and we will plan the load.
