What a flat rate is, and why we quote by phone
A flat rate is one number that covers delivery to your address, the container for a standard 7-day rental, pickup, fuel, and disposal up to a stated tonnage. No fuel surcharge, no pickup fee, no "environmental fee" that appears on the invoice later. If a smaller box does the job we quote the smaller box.
We do not publish a price list on this page because the two things that decide the number — what is going in and where it tips — change from job to job and town to town. A 20 yard of kitchen debris in Janesville and a 20 yard of shingles in Monroe are different jobs at the scale. Call (608) 530-0711 with the address and the material and you will have a firm number before you hang up.
Where the number comes from: landfill fees
The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal, and disposal is charged by the ton at a licensed landfill. These are the published gate rates at the facilities our loads use, as of 1 January 2026:
Built into every one of those rates is the State of Wisconsin's own $13.097 a ton in landfill fees. The Walworth and Jefferson County loads go to a DNR-licensed private landfill — Mallard Ridge in Delavan or Deer Track Park in Watertown — neither of which publishes its gate fees, or back to Janesville at $46. We say which when we quote.
The three things that add to it
Weight. The flat rate includes a stated allowance — one to two tons on a 10 yard, up to five or six on a 40. Concrete, brick, plaster, tile and shingles use it up fast, which is why we put heavy loads in a 10 loaded level and tell you where the line is before you load. Overage is charged at the landfill rate per ton, and we say what that rate is for your town before you load.
Days. The standard rental is 7 days. Keeping it longer is a small daily rate, and we would rather extend it than have you rush a job — just tell us before the pickup date.
Banned items. Wisconsin bans tires, major appliances, electronics, lead-acid batteries, waste oil and oil filters, yard waste, and cardboard, cans, bottles and paper from the landfill, and the Janesville landfill adds shingles, concrete and asphalt in a mixed load. If they turn up in the load they come out at the scale and the handling is charged — the landfill itself charges $15 for a fridge, freezer, air conditioner or dehumidifier and $8 a tire. Paint, solvents and chemicals never go in at all. The what-goes-in guide says where each belongs instead.
The permit and licence fees — published and not
None of these change our flat rate, but they can add to the cost of a job, so here is what the towns actually publish. Janesville's Dumpster Permit for a street, alley, sidewalk or terrace placement shows no fee on the form or in the City's fee schedule, so we confirm it with the Building Division rather than guess. Elkhorn's Street Privilege Permit is $25 plus actual costs, and its Grade 2 hauler licence for construction and demolition work is $100 a year. Brodhead's street privilege permit is $10 plus actual City costs with a bond of up to $10,000. Stoughton, Monroe, Milton, Edgerton, Delavan and Fort Atkinson set their street-permit fees by Council resolution or do not state them, and Delavan, Monroe and Beloit set their hauler-licence fees the same way.
Demolition permits are separate and sit with the owner: Janesville charges $132 for a residential structure, $100 for minor interior demolition and $165 for a commercial building up to 20,000 square feet; Lake Geneva charges $150 to raze a one- or two-family house; Fort Atkinson $50 residential and $100 commercial. A commercial demolition also carries the DNR asbestos notification fee — $135, $400, $700 or $1,325 by quantity — while a one-to-four-unit house is typically exempt from the notice.
Where the money hides on a mixed job
The most expensive container is the one that has three streams in it. A roof, a broken-up patio and a kitchen in one 30 yard is a mixed load that the Janesville landfill will not take, the Green County landfill requires separated, and the Dane County facility would price at the mixed-refuse rate instead of the cheaper construction rate. Split the same job into a shingle box, a 10 of clean concrete for the $6-a-yard Clean Fill yard, and a 20 of everything else, and each one tips at the cheapest rate it qualifies for. That is the arithmetic behind "tell us what is going in" — it is not curiosity, it is the quote.
Dumpster or junk removal — which is cheaper?
For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is cheaper, because you are paying for the box rather than the hours. For a small job you want gone today with nobody to lift, our junk removal crew is the better value. We run both and will say which on the phone.

Call (608) 530-0711 — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A dispatcher in Janesville will size the job, quote it flat for your town and your material, and schedule it on the same call. Same-day in Janesville and the Rock County towns when you call before noon; usually next morning for Walworth, Jefferson, Dane and Green County.
